Rising country group, Sweet Tea Trio, brings their fresh sound and beautiful harmonies to the Dogwood Black Box on Friday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m.
The group is opening nine dates for rap-rocker Kid Rock in September throughout Michigan and Indiana. Earlier this year they were chosen by LiveNation to be the opener for Bon Jovi in Birmingham, AL and most recently they wowed fans at the CMA Music Fest in Nashville. Later in October they will open for Deana Carter in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
The three young ladies, Victoria Camp, Savannah Coker and Kate Falcon were named Alabama’s Country Female Artist of the Year for 2016 and are winning the hearts and catching the eye of fans across the country. Their sound is unique, unlike what you hear on country radio today.
The Trio’s self-titled EP debuted on the i-Tunes Country Chart at number 11 this past June and has continued to delight audiences and the country music industry alike.
Originally from Alabama, the now Nashville-based trio met in January of 2014 through a Birmingham artist development program called Nashville Bound. Each artist sang individually when they initially entered the program but quickly felt an instant vocal connection once they sang together. The Trio has been performing together ever since.

The General Assembly was formed in the fall of 1971 by a group of musicians from the Ludington area . The players enjoyed the sounds of the big bands and wanted to regularly play the music long associated with such names as Basie, Kenton, Herman, Miller, the Dorseys, and others. Since that time the band has performed throughout Michigan, from the Detroit area to Traverse City, while receiving requests for appearances from as far away as San Francisco. Audiences have responded with “The best in the Midwest”, “Great performance”, “We should have had a dance floor”, and “Our audience insists you come back next year.”

The Second City, Chicago’s legendary sketch and improv comedy theater, brings “The Cure for the Common Comedy” on Saturday, September 9 to the Dogwood Center Main Stage at 7:30 p.m.
Have an up-close encounter with live zoo animals at the Dogwood! John Ball Zoo instructors will present “Michigan Wildlife” and “Animal Adaptations” in the Black Box on Saturday, August 19 at 3:00 p.m.! This program will be limited to 40 people so pre-registration is suggested.
Rick Reuther’s show Rags to Riches is a loving tribute to the music and life of singer Tony Bennett. As performed by vocalist Reuther with pianist/arranger Tom Hagen heading the band, the show highlights Bennett’s iconic performances from his earliest days through today, as the 90 year old singer is still bringing audiences to their feet. The set list includes many of his classics like Rags to Riches, Because of You, The Shadow of Your Smile and the enduring I Left My Heart in San Francisco. It also includes some of the lesser known musical gems that Bennett had such a knack for discovering and making his own.
