Mr. Phan Van Do, Project Coordinator for Madison Quakers, Inc, will speak about his work on humanitarian projects in Vietnam. His presentation is sponsored by The Religous Society of Friends – Fremont Worship Group (Quakers).
Mr. Do has been both the driving force and the persistent presence behind the success of all of Madison Quakers, Inc.’s humanitarian projects in Vietnam. He is a remakable Vietnamese activist who has been working for many years with Mike Boehm and Madison Quakers, Inc. in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. He is said to connect with people of all walks, allowing his humor and humanity to shine through.
Mr. Do will touch on his and Mike Boehm’s collaborative efforts, the relationship-building inherent in the facilitating of projects and what the relationship-building means to the Vietnamese people, and his own journey to peace. Despite the deaths of many members of his family during the American war he has put his hatred aside and devoted his life to work for peace.
Mr. Do’s presentation occurs during Newaygo County’s “30 Days of Peace”, September 10 – October 10. “30 Days of Peace is a collaborative effort that includes representatives from nonprofits, faith based organizations, businesses, and other local community groups, as well as individuals unaffiliated with any group. “30 Days of Peace” seeks to unite people around two common goals: become aware of ways to acknowledge and celebrate peace each day and to promote unity, understanding, kindness, service, compassion, and non-violence in everyday living.
