July 25 – Summer Youth Theater presents "A Little Princess" – 7:30 p.m.

April 29, 2014 by Dogwood

littleprincess25The Dogwood Center Summer Youth Theater will present the classic story, A Little Princess on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m.!
A Little Princess is a 1905 children’s classic written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. In this tale, Sara Crewe is sent to live at an upscale boarding school run by Miss Minchin, a greedy and domineering head mistress. Sara’s wealthy father, Captain Crewe, leaves instructions that his daughter is to be given a private room with a parlor and a maid. Some of Sara’s fellow classmates are envious of Sara’s fortune and make fun of her by referring to her as “Princess Sara”. On her birthday, Sara receives news that her father has died, all of this fortune has been lost, and that she has been left a pauper. With her school bills unpaid, Miss Minchin makes Sara a servant, making her wear rags and live in the attic. Hungry, cold, and overworked, Sara finds that she is left only with her imagination to comfort her. However, Sara’s luck changes one day when she looks out her attic window and sees that a new family has moved into the house across the street.
This program is funded by a Fremont Area Community Foundation Summer Youth Initiative Grant.
Free admission. 7:30 p.m. Main Stage. General admission seating.
