Satellite Collective, and its roster of New York artists return to present an evening of cutting edge new works at the Dogwood Center for Performing Arts. On September 13th, this vibrant, athletic group of artists and performers will present their fifth Summer Residency season in Michigan. Two new modern dance works with multimedia will be presented by choreographers Manuel Vignoulle and Esme Boyce whose works were well received at last year’s performance.
Original music has been composed and performed by the Satellite Ensemble, under Nick Jaina Director. The evening will include a short stop-motion film by Lora Robertson with music composed by Ellis Ludwig-Leone, a spoken word piece by Nathan Langston with visuals by Daniel Wilson and a solo cello composition by David Moss, of Brooklyn, New York.
Each year the Satellite Collective develops new works through the Summer Residency Program in Newaygo County. New Repertory is refined during our travels across the country, then pieces are workshopped in at the Dogwood Center, and ultimately performed in New York City later in the fall.
Expect surprising, innovative new media, music and dance during this evening with performances developed and produced by top artists from the New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey, and Juilliard.
Satellite Collective is an arts incubator. They create accessible and diverse opportunities. They are joined by composers, choreographers, musicians, artists, designers, poets, and writers from across the country and the world. The 2014 season is the fifth year at the Dogwood Center. Satellite Collective has created major dance works, a catalog of original music, art commissions in literature, photography, and multimedia – and the launch of a respected arts journal with an international reach.
The Satellite Collective performance at the Dogwood Center is funded in part by grants from the Fremont Area Community Foundation and Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
