Waterwalk, the award winning father/son bonding picture shot on location in Newaygo and Muskegon counties is the perfect summer film. Shown during the week of U.S. Canoe Association Canoe and Kayak Nationals on the Muskegon River, this must see film tells the story of Steve and Justin Faulker’s attempt to become the first team to paddle the Marquette/Joliet discovery route of the Mississippi. Join producer Roger Rapoport and officials from the nationals for a behind the scenes look at this remarkable story filmed on the same river that is the heart of the exciting marathon championships.
Filmed in western and northern Michigan, along Lake Michigan, Green Bay, the Fox, Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers, Waterwalk is the story of a suddenly unemployed workaholic dad who takes a dangerous 1,000 canoe trip with the Asian American adopted son he barely knows. Featuring Robert Cicchini (Godfather III, War of the Worlds, The Sopranos and Mentalist) and Chase Maser, the film has been hailed by critics as “heartfelt, touching, and real”. Cinematographer Bruce Schermer shot Sundance Grand Prize Winning Chameleon Street. Don’t miss the preshow talk that offers facinating insights on the Marquette/Joliet story, the Faulkners Odyssey and the big Muskegon River race.
